Students live in a fast-changing world. They have more pressure to contend with at a much younger age while their choice of careers has multiplied. Star Health provides a protective cover that helps them cope in their most vulnerable years.
STAR provides separate Student Insurance Care policies for school and college students. It grants compensation in the event of death, disability or hospitalization expenses. It also provides for continuance of education if an earning parent passes away or is permanently disabled by injury.

Additional Benefits
- Hospitalization cover for Rs.5000/- is available under all student care insurance following an accident. This includes a limit of out-patient treatment of Rs.1000/- for School students and Rs.2000/- for College students
- Educational grant to students is available in case of death or permanent disability of the earning parent / guardian up to Rs.5000/- for a school student and Rs.10, 000/- for a college student. This amount can be availed once during the policy period
Eligibility
- Students between the age of 3 years and 18 years can be covered under SCHOOL STUDENT CARE INSURANCE
- Students between the age of 15 years and 25 years can be covered under COLLEGE STUDENT CARE INSURANCE
- Schools and Colleges can avail the policy
- Sum Insured for Basic Cover (Death and Permanent Disability): School Students - Rs.50,000/-.
- The sum insured can be increased in multiples of Rs.10,000 up to a maximum of Rs.1,00,000 at an additional premium of Rs.0.60 per mille
Risk Features
- Policy has been designed to take care of emergent needs of the students
- Sum Insured under the policy can be enhanced to specific limits on payment of additional premium
- Limits of indemnity under Hospitalisation cover and Education Grant do not change with a change in the Sum Insured under the Basic Cover

Exclusions |
|
- Expenses incurred for treatment of any illness / disease / condition, which is pre-existing at the time of commencement of insurance
- Any expenses incurred for treatment of illness / disease / sickness contracted by the Insured Person during the first 30 days from the commencement of the policy
- First Year Exclusions – Hernia, Piles, Hydrocele, Congenital Internal disease / defect, Sinusitis, Gall Stone / Renal Stone removal / treatment
- Second Year Exclusions – Hysterectomy, Cataract, Joint Replacement Surgery, Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc, Varicose veins / ulcers
- Naturopathy treatment
- Expenses, which are purely diagnostic in nature with no positive existence of any disease
- Expenses that are cosmetic in nature
- Expenses incurred for treatment by systems of medicines other than Allopathic shall be limited to 25% of Sum Insured, subject to a maximum of Rs.25,000/- in the entire policy period
Claim Procedure
- Call the Star Health 24 hour help-line to register the details of hospitalization.
- Kindly mention your Star Health ID number for easy access to your policy details.
- In case of a planned hospitalisation, please register 24 hours prior to admission to the hospital
- In case of emergency hospitalisation, please register within 24 hours of hospitalisation
- In all network hospitals, the cashless facility on payments can be availed
- For treatment in non-network hospitals, payments must be made up-front to the hospital. Reimbursement of the expenses will be effected by Star Health, on submission of the necessary documents.
