United India launches top-up and super top up medical policies |
|
Chennai, Dec. 31 United India Insurance Co Ltd has launched two new medical insurance policies that help people add up to Rs 15 lakh to their medical cover. The policies – Top Up and Super Top Up – will be available to United India’s customers; those who have taken medical insurance cover with other companies; and those covered under employee reimbursement schemes.
These policies will hike the limits of their existing cover or reimbursement limits. Also, those who are yet to opt for medical insurance can use these to take medical insurance cover beyond a threshold limit that they can choose. These policies “start where others stop”, say United India’s officials.
At a press conference to announce the launch of these policies, Mr G. Srinivasan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, United India Insurance, said medical insurance cover is commonly available up to a limit of Rs 5 lakh, but those wanting a higher cover will have to take two or more policies which multiply the premium they have to pay.
The new policies add on a maximum of up to Rs 15 lakh beyond the basic insurance cover at a relatively cheaper premium. The total medical cover would go up to Rs 20 lakh which is as yet unmatched in medical insurance products.
Top Up policy will help individuals top up their existing cover Super Top Up will help when the total hospitalisation expenses during the policy period exceed the threshold level chosen. |
